A policy conference hosted by the University of Pittsburgh was held on June 12th and 13th 2009 which explored transatlantic perspectives in the context of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the Thornburgh Room of Pittburg's Hillman Library, Oakland, USA. The conference explored the Convention's emphasis on accessibility from a human rights perspective.

The Centre's Chief Officer, Dr. Gerald Craddock, presented on "Accessibility in the Context of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities - Transatlantic Perspective".
